I've been doing a lot of cooking lately and it's got me thinking about life. Go figure. Some recipes take a lot of ingredients- some you like, some you don't like (for instance, in a hashbrown casserole, I generally hate onions, but I love cream cheese) and that's exactly how life is. Life is like one big recipe, a hodgepodge of sorts- some things you like, some things you don't, and some things that seem too little to make a difference. But the truth is that without one ingredient (compare that "ingredient" to a season of your life that has shaped who you are today) the final product wouldn't be the same. The parts you don't like on their own give the other parts flavor. So you really do need the onions (of life), too. Each and every "ingredient" works together to make something wonderful: life. Life is, in fact, wonderful you know.
And for those of you who like to cook, or just for those of you who read the words "hashbrown casserole" and it made you hungry, here's my favorite hashbrown casserole recipe:
- 2 bags frozen hash brown potatoes
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 sticks melted butter
- 4 cups monterrey jack/ colby jack cheese
- 2 cans of cream of chicken soup
- 2 containers of chive and onion cream cheese
Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl, bake in 9x13 dish at 350 degrees for about 50 minutes
